The Finnish company Metso Outotec has signed a contract for the supply of copper ore processing technology for a high-capacity copper concentrator. The facility is to travel to Russia. However, neither the name of the customer nor the financial details of the transaction were disclosed.
However, according to a Finnish company, the value of similar supplies usually exceeds EUR 100 million. The order was placed in the fourth quarter of 2020, with Metso Outotec being approached in June to supply two other facilities worth 23 million euros to Russia for the same copper concentrator.
The entire operation will consist of four lines with a total capacity to process at least 80 million tons of copper ore per year. Metso Outotec will deliver the ordered equipment during 2022 and 2023. “We are extremely pleased to have succeeded in this competition. The equipment we supply will enable our client to obtain copper, as well as added value in an environmentally friendly way, “said Stephan Kirsch, head of the mineral extraction business at Metso Outotec, in a press release.
This will not be the first Finnish delivery of this type to Russia. Metso Outotec has previously won a contract for zinc processing technology, which it will supply to the Chelyabinsk region. The value of this contract will also reach around 100 million euros.
