Connection to the ultra-fast mobile network is offered by three Chinese state companies: China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom Hong Kong
The operators offer services, which allow data transport up to 100 times faster than the current 4G technology. Customers can choose from more tariffs, the prices start at $18 a month, which is about 415 CZK.
5G is currently available in about 50 Chinese cities, including the metropolis cities of Beijing and Shanghai. Only in Beijing the operators can use about 10,000 5G base stations. Furthermore, the number of base stations should grow up to about 100,000 all over the country in the upcoming months.
The initial plans were to launch 5G services only in the beginning of the next year. Yet reportedly due to pressure of the US, Huawei had to speed it up. Washington considers Huawei to be a threat to 5G services and therefore warn their allies not to cooperate on instruction of the services with this Chinese company.
China is not the first country to release 5G technology to customers, some cities in the US and South Korea are using the network already. However, it will definitely be the largest. China Telecom estimates that the number of clients connected to 5G technology could rise up to 170 Million during 2020.
