Almost all the Yamal pipeline capacities are reserved until the middle of next September

Russian natural gas exporters believe in early recovery of the European economy. The have reserved almost 90% capacity of the Yamal pipeline, which connects Russian peninsula with Poland and western part of Germany.

Reservation of 90% capacities concern period from October till the end of next September. Auction results showed that pipeline capacities were reserved in 92% in June already, and in third quarter starting in July were up to 80% booked. On the contrary, May has showed significant decline in natural gas flow through the Yamal pipeline. “Almost everything that was available is currently booked,said a spokeswoman at Poland’s gas grid operator Gaz-System. 

A prior agreement on natural gas supply between Russia and Poland dating back to the 1990s expired in May. In accordance with energy regulations, Warsaw ended its long-term dependence on Russian fuel. Gaz-System currently uses gas auctions from more suppliers, and does not have to rely on willingness and monetary policy of Russian producers.
