Currency of strongest global economy won’t be digital any time soon
The step isn’t supported neither by influential politicians nor by central bankers.
Even though the possibility of Dollar digitalization and its connection to blockchain network has been discussed among American politicians and financiers recently, the step isn’t likely to happen. It has been made clear that the influential ones don’t intent to do so. Digital Dollar was refused by Steven Mnuchin, the US Secretary of the Treasury, and Jerome Powell, the Chair of the Federal Reserve.
“Powell and I have discussed it and we agreed that in the near future (that is in upcoming five years) we see no need for FED to issued its digital currency,“ Mnuchin said. Yet, such an attitude is not a surprise. Mnuchin confirmed his long-term skeptical opinion on cryptocurrency. “I can assure you that I won’t put any of my savings to bitcoin,“ Mnuchin said in July. US Secretary of the Treasury also pointed out that American authorities work on unification of cryptocurrency regulation.
